RD3 Overview

Modeling & Simulation

This Program Area aims at developing simulation and analysis tools to provide high-fidelity predictions of complex interactions of loads, resources, controls, and policy/institutional influences. The scope also includes development of tools to establish technology targets, quantify benefits, and provide viable enterprise models for the evolving grid operations.

Activities supported by the Electric Distribution Program and its collaborating partners include the following:

   FY04 Projects

Advanced Distribution Simulation
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Modeling the Effects of Integrating Distributed Energy Resources with the Electric Power System
GE Power Systems

Distributed and Electric Power System Aggregation Model Determination and Field Configuration Equivalency Validation Testing
DTE Energy Technologies

Benefits Characterization of GridWise
RAND

Projects Managed by the Partnering Program
Fast Simulation and Modeling
Consortium for Electric Infrastructure to Support a Digital Society (CEIDS)
